Lake Forest, White Oaks Estate, Historic Gates

Originally built in 1915 for Robert Thorne, President of Montgomery Ward, this historic estate's deteriorated entrance was meticulously restored to its original grandeur. The masonry and gates were reconstructed to their original specifications, the wrought-iron gates were restored and rehung, and new dramatic gas lanterns and commemorative limestone plaques were added. A new perimeter wall was extended to fully enclose the property, built on the foundation of a long forgotten wall.
